Callum Peters & Alan Jones - BBC UX&D

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

Callum Peters and Alan Jones both work in web design for the BBC and both went to the University. Callum studied Graphic design and Alan did computer science. Despite having varying backgrounds they both joined a scheme with the BBC to get into web development.

They have both done a variety of work from working on the news page to helping develop an app to help kids growing up online with problems like bullying. Currently they are working alongside 200 people throughout the country called the BBC UX&D department who are all designers and it is their job to all collaborate together to help maintain and develop these apps and programmes. During their talk they focused heavily on collaboration and working as a team through sessions playing around to help unlock their creativity they even carried this on through lockdown with meetings getting everyone together to have a bit of fun and bounce ideas off each other.

To sum all of the meeting up no matter what field you are working in one of the most important parts of it will be the teamwork and the collaboration and being able to do these things with other people. This will be the same in teaching as this job would require me to not only work with other teachers in my department and across the school but also with the students as they may need help with work or using equipment in the workshop.
